The JNVST 6th Entrance 2026 is a competitive entrance exam conducted by the Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti (NVS) for admission into Class 6 in Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas (JNVs) across India. The exam is planned to be conducted in two phases: the Summer Bound Exam on 13th December 2025 and the Winter Bound Exam on 11th April 2026. Students born between 1st May 2014 and 31st July 2016 and currently studying in Class 5 (2025-26 session) in a government or recognized private school in the same district as the JNV are eligible to apply. 75% of seats are reserved for rural candidates which helps to provide equal opportunities for students from underprivileged backgrounds.

Eligibility Criteria for JNVST 2026

To apply for JNVST Class 6 admission 2026 the candidates must meet the below eligibility conditions of Age Limit, Residence amd Educational Qualifications:

1. Age Limit

The applicant must have been born between 1st May 2014 and 31st July 2016.

2. Residential Requirement

Admission is district-wise and Only for class 5th students. A bonafide residence certificate must be submitted during document verification.

3. Educational Qualification

The student must be currently enrolled in Class 5 (2025-26 session) in a government or government-recognized school. Those who have already passed Class 5 or repeated the class are not eligible.

4. Rural & Urban Quota

  • 75% of seats are reserved for students living in rural areas who have studied Classes 3rd, 4th and 5th in a rural school.
  • Urban candidates (those who attended any part of Classes 3-5 in an urban school) can compete for the remaining 25% of seats.

5. Single Attempt Rule

A student can appear for the JNVST only once, it means Students who once filed in this test can not reappear.

JNVST 2026 Exam Pattern & Syllabus

The JNVST Class 6 entrance exam consists of three major sections which constitutes to a total 80 questions:

Mental Ability Test (MAT) – 50 Marks (40 Questions)

  • Tests logical reasoning, pattern recognition, and analytical skills.

Arithmetic Test – 25 Marks (20 Questions)

  • Covers basic math concepts like addition, subtraction, fractions, and word problems.

Language Test – 25 Marks (20 Questions)

  • Assesses comprehension and grammar skills in Hindi/English/Regional Language.

The exam duration is 2 hours, with no negative marking.

The online application process is free of cost and can be completed via the official NVS portal:

  1. Visit https://cbseitms.rcil.gov.in/nvs/ or navodaya.gov.in.
  2. Click on “Class VI Registration 2026”.
  3. Fill in personal, academic, and residential details.
  4. Upload documents (photo, signature, Aadhaar, residence proof).
  5. Submit the form, save its PDF amd Take a copy of form for future use.
